Discover the Charm of Jade Island
Business Guide
These rules serve as a basic guide for business owners on Jade Island and are subject to change as the sim grows. Please use good judgement and common sense when operating businesses on sim.
Section 1
All business owners must obey Second Life’s Terms of Service and all sim rules at all times.
Section 2
Jade Island hosts two types of in-character businesses:
-
Sim-sponsored Businesses: Sim-sponsored businesses consist of businesses that are funded by the sim and managed by an in-character owner. Sim-sponsored businesses will not pay a tier, but cannot change the decor. However they can rent more prims to add on or rent an extra floor above the shop if available.
-
Private-sim businesses: Private-sim businesses - These are in-character businesses that are not listed as a sim-sponsored business. A number of empty, unoccupied business spaces will be available for rent to open private-sim businesses. Private-sim businesses can also rent the extra floor above the shop if it is available.
Section 3
For sim-sponsored businesses, active participation is required.
Section 4
COMMUNICATION: In the event that a business owner is not on sim, we encourage joining Jade Island’s Discord to resolve urgent issues that may occur.
Section 5
SECURITY: Keep it reasonable when using any type of NPC security guards, cams, etc. All security guards, cams, etc must be physically visible. Please refer to the sim guidelines on using NPCs.
-
Security guards may be used. If a business-owner/employee is NOT present, the guard will successfully defend the business unless prior approval was granted by the business-owner/employee.
-
Security Cameras - If you see the camera, the camera will see you up to 20 meters. After 20m the video footage would become grainy. Cameras also capture audio within that range at the level of a shout.
Section 6
EVENTS: All business-owners are allowed to host events as they choose without sim approval but it is a good idea to consult with the team. A good rule-of-thumb: if your event goes past the front sidewalk, it is best to consult with Jade Island management for approval.
